RELEASED NOVEMBER 23, 1964
COVER: MONO PRESSING with No # on back.
RECORDS: Rare WEST COAST “RCA” PRESSINGS with Los Angeles “STAR” in trail-off area.
LABELS: Rare WEST COAST “RCA” PRESSINGS with the Sides 1/2/3/4 Pairings.
You’re looking at “THE BEATLES’ STORY” with RARE RCA 1/2/3/4 Pairings. This is a nice MONO copy of this great 60 YEAR OLD ALBUM. According to Stanley Panenka’s great book “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES RECORD PRICE GUIDE,” these RARE RCA Pressings in NEAR MINT condition are valued at $650.00!… BUT WAIT!… That price is for EAST COAST Pressings. The copy I’m offering here is a MUCH RARER WEST COAST Pressing identified by the Los Angeles “STAR” in trail-off area and the WEST COAST LABELS.
*** EAST VS. WEST – Most of Capitol's albums manufactured prior to 1966 were pressed at the East Coast Plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania or, starting in July, 1965, at the Midwest Plant in Jacksonville, Illinois. The percentage of albums pressed at the West Coast Plant in Los Angeles, California prior to 1966 may be as low as TWENTY PERCENT.
(Because of the record’s scarcity, it’s valued at 70% of the total price. The cover is more common, so it’s value is only 30% of the total price.)
ALBUM CONDITIONS
ALBUM COVER: (VG+)
*** NOTE: This particular pressing came with “off-white” cover slicks that make the front and back of the cover look a little more aged than it actually is. The Inside Gatefold is the regular bright white color and it looks great.
Front: The “off-white” front cover still looks great. There is some very light ring wear, but it’s not too obvious. (SEE IMAGES.)
Back: (No # near RIAA symbol.) The “off-white” back cover has some ring wear, but still looks pretty darn good. (SEE IMAGES.)
Middle: The Inside Gatefold looks great. Almost flawless. (SEE IMAGES.)
Seams: All four seams are solid and strong. The corners all have minor dings, with the two top right ones showing just the very start of a split.
Spine: A nice looking, perfectly flat, Gatefold spine with all it’s text clear and legible. It is a little crooked and shows just a little bit of aging. (SEE IMAGES.)
VINYL RECORDS: (VG+)
Records: Play tested. No skips. I just finished listening to both records on my headphones, and even on my cheap record player, they still sound amazing. There is only the occasional very light pop during a couple of tracks and in the dead wax between a few others. These audio flaws are minuscule and barely noticeable during play. Both sides still retain a lot of their original luster. (SEE IMAGES.)
Labels: All four labels look great. Side Two has some very light “Factory bumps”. (SEE IMAGES.)
Sleeve: Comes with 2 original East Coast LIGHT BLUE Capitol sleeve (12TC-1) in really nice condition. (The records will be shipped inside new generic sleeves in order to protect the original sleeves.)
NOTE: Record grading is very subjective, so be sure to inspect all the images carefully and decide for yourself. Also be aware that some imperfections that are visible in the images may not be listed in the descriptions. If you have any questions, please contact me before you bid.
*** RECORD ALBUM and SINGLES SHIPPING: All records will be securely shipped in sturdy cardboard mailers. The records will be removed from their covers and original inner sleeves and placed in acid-free paper or poly sleeves. The cover will be put in a loose-fitting polyethylene sleeve. The cost of these shipping supplies are paid for by yours truly, the seller.
