RARE MONO, VERY HARD TO FIND IN THIS ALL ROUND SUPERB CONDITION, ALL COMPONENTS IN THIS COMPLETE VINYL LP SET ARE 100% ORIGINAL.
Arguably one of most influential and iconic Albums of the 20th Century, this is an original 1968 UK Apple **FIRST ISSUE MONO** two vinyl LP Set for The Beatles White Album, entitled ‘The BEATLES’.
This Superb Set is 100% complete, with two original UK first issue mono vinyl LPs. Four original Full Colour glossy photographs, one of each Beatle, an original Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric poster, printed by Garrod and Lofthouse, two original matt black inner bags. The set is housed within its original, First Issue, Fully Laminated Top Opening Numbered **0009389** Gatefold Sleeve.
LP Description:
The two First Issue mono Vinyl LPs are on the traditional dark green Apple Record labels, with ‘Sold in UK Subject to resale label text, and ‘without an E.M.I. Recording Label reference’ and with ‘Mfd in UK’ label text to all four sides of the record labels.
All four record labels are in superb undamaged Near Mint condition, super clean record labels free from any handwriting, with just a couple of light centre spindle lines to each label.
Disc 1, Side 1 matrix XEX 709-1 & Side 2: XEX 710-2.
Disc 1, Side 1 stampers: 3 GGH & Side 2 stampers are: 3 GGL.
Disc 2, Side 3 matrix: XEX 711-1 & Side 4: XEX 712-1.
Disc 2, Side 3 stampers: 3 LL & Side 4 stampers: 4 HT.
There is a KT Tax Code visible on the side 2 record label.
All four sides of the vinyl discs are in pristine Near Mint condition, the vinyl surfaces are super clean, and have been very carefully, cared for by the previous owner, all that is visible are one or two non sounding hairlines, probably caused by the black inner bags.
And are housed in it’s ORIGINAL, FULLY LAMINATED Garrod and Lofthouse GATEFOLD Sleeve. This FIRST ISSUE Sleeve is TOP OPENING and NUMBERED 0009389, printed to the lower portion of the front of the sleeve, the wording ‘The BEATLES’ is embossed a little way up above the number. The sleeve opens out to reveal black and white portraits of each of The Beatles together with the track listing, the gatefold sleeve is in superb Excellent to Excellent Plus condition, the sleeve is firm, clean, and bright with light signs of age toning on the spine edge and opening edges. When opened out, the inside gatefold part of the sleeve is superb, again no damage, just light signs of age toning, there is very mild record indentation to the front and reverse of the sleeve where the LPs have been stored.
There are a couple of mild corner bumps.
The spine edge of the sleeve shows age toning, a couple of small paper loss areas, and a 2” split at the top of the spine, the split does not show on the inside of the gatefold, (please see scans of the spine below).
The reverse of the sleeve is clean and white with the exception of mild age toning to the spine edge.
Both original black inner bags are in Excellent condition, showing light creases and a small seam split to one bag.
The four original Full Colour glossy photographs – one of each Beatle in Near Mint condition, with no tearing or pin holes, a beautiful set.
And also includes an original Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric poster printed by Garrod and Lofthouse, also in Near Mint condition, no pin holes, tearing or damage.
Play Quality:
Having played both LPs, as expected due to the super condition of the discs, all four sides play with superb mono sound quality throughout, with no background crackle, no pops or clicks, and no skips or jumps. The sound quality of both LPs is the best that i have heard for a long time, and is exceptionally quiet between and during the tracks.
A superb quality example of the classic White album with a low number under 10,000. The Beatles White Album continues to be a firm favourite for collectors. This White Album comes complete with a low number and all it’s original first issue inserts.
