RESPECTABLE CONDITION, ALL COMPONENTS IN THIS COMPLETE SET ARE 100% ORIGINAL
Considered to be one of most INFLUENTIAL and ICONIC Albums of the 20th Century, this is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK Apple ** FIRST ISSUE STEREO** TWO Vinyl LP Set for The Beatles WHITE Album, entitled simply ‘The BEATLES’.
This Set is 100% COMPLETE, with TWO ORIGINAL UK FIRST ISSUE STEREO VINYL LPs, Four ORIGINAL Full Colour GLOSSY PHOTOGRAPHS – one of each Beatle, an ORIGINAL Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric POSTER printed by Garrod and Lofthouse, Two ORIGINAL MATT BLACK INNER BAGS. The set is housed within its ORIGINAL, First Issue, Fully Laminated TOP OPENING, NUMBERED GATEFOLD Sleeve, printed ‘Stereo’ to the top right hand corner of the reverse of the sleeve.
LP Description/Condition:
The TWO First Issue Stereo Vinyl LPs are on the traditional Apple Record labels, all bearing the ‘Sold in UK Subject to resale’, ‘With An E.M.I. Recording Reference on all four record labels’ and ‘Mfd. In UK’ label text to ALL four sides of the record labels, all four labels are printed ‘Stereo’.
All four record labels in VERY NICE Excellent condition, clean record labels, vivid Black Print, showing only a few light centre spider trails to each label.
All 4 sides of the vinyl discs are in Excellent Minus to Excellent condition, the vinyl discs still retain their gloss shine, with nothing more than surface hairline scratches,There are NO scuffs or deep scratches to any of the vinyl surfaces.
Disc 1, Side 1 matrix YEX 709-1 & Side 2: YEX 710-1.
Disc 1, Side 1 stampers: 1 OR & Side 2 stampers are: 3 GRO.
Disc 2, Side 3 matrix: YEX 711-2 & Side 4: YEX 712-1.
Disc 2, Side 3 stampers: 1 RG & Side 4 stampers: 1 LL.
The TWO 12” Vinyl LPs come in their ORIGINAL Matt Black Die Cut Inner Bags which are in Very Good condition, the bags do have some inevitable creasing, and small tears to the opening edges and seam splits.
….And are housed in an original Garrod and Lofthouse Gatefold Sleeve. This Sleeve is top opening and numbered 0489202, printed to the lower portion of the front of the sleeve, the number is slightly faded. ‘The BEATLES’ is embossed a little way up above the number. The sleeve opens out to reveal black and white portraits of each of The Beatles together with the track listing, the top right hand corner of the reverse of the sleeve is printed ‘Stereo’, the Stereo wording is also faded.
The Original Fully Laminated Gatefold sleeve is in Excellent Minus condition. This is a firm sleeve throughout, with only mild record indentation, and age toning to the edges, the back panel is undamaged, with only mild record indentation, and again age toning to the edges. The inner gatefold is in undamaged Excellent condition. The spine edge has age toning, and a little laminate flaking. There are NO seam splits to any of the edges, and only mild corner bruises to all four corners.
There are Four Full Colour Photographs – one of each Beatle - Three of the photographs are in Excellent Pus condition, with NO tearing or pinholes, the George Harrison photograph has a little paper loss (see scan).
And an original Large Format, Double Sided, Lyric Poster printed by Garrod and Lofthouse which is in Excellent Minus condition, the poster has light creases and a couple of tears to the machine folds.
Play Quality:
Having played both LPs, all 4 sides play well throughout all the tracks, there are NO skips, just some light background crackle and light surface noise.
Overall this is a respectable example, not in top condition, nevertheless a complete original1968 Beatles STEREO White Album.
