You'll hardly need me to introduce you to this epic 2LP. Arguably both one of the greatest achievements of one of the most famous bands worldwide yet at the same time a total mess. Some of their best later era songs are included here and some of the most absurd too... what does it all mean? Well obviously it shows a band in its final years... albeit one so talented that the album became a classic even though it is fractured. Stand back and look at it as a whole and it might fail to deliver but take the best songs as individual moments and it shines. Much like 'Abbey Road', the format is densely packed with tracks either segueing together or so closely packed as to be the same thing... and all without any track separators on the vinyl so you couldn't really find anythning easily, it was meant to be listened to as a whole. Does it still deliver? You bet it does.

Infamous for being one of the most desirable late 60-'s'mono mixes' in its mono edition, the stereo version is often overlooked, although I can't figure out why that would be, it stands the test of time and sounds rich and well recorded throughout. Indeed the legendary sound quality of the EMI/George Martin production is simply state-of-the-art for the time.

The vinyl is in very clean condition and sounds absolutely gorgeous throughout with no notable flaws whatsoever. Although the sleeve is slightly yellowed and has been handled a lot, it still all holds together remarkably well for such a well-loved item. Perhaps the previous owner liked looking at it more than playing it? The vinyl as I say is very nice indeed. Becoming rarer to find these 1st stereo pressings in decent condition so my advice would be to find one soon, and why not this one? Why not indeed, it's a good one.
