SCRANTON, PA PLANT PRESSING WITH A “RIAA 3” FACTORY NUMBER
ORIGINAL CAPITOL RECORDS BRIGHT BLUE INNER SLEEVE

Very early circa mid-1964 factory sealed Stereo copy of “The Beatles’ Second Album” with the catalog number ST-2080 released by Capitol Records in April, 1964. Based on the inner sleeve which can be seen through the intact shrink wrap it is the so-called “bright blue” inner sleeve, which Capitol Records received in mid-1964. Therefore, it can be stated that this copy was pressed no earlier than June 1964. Without any doubts, this Stereo copy, which comes across significantly rarer than the Mono, contains the original Capitol Records black with a multicolor band labels that don’t have the “Subsidiary…” rim text. This is one of the earliest 1st issue copies pressed at Scranton, PA pressing plant as identified by the “RIAA 3” factory number in the lower right-hand corner of the back cover. The RIAA number can also help to identify the approximate pressing date. Covers with the “RIAA 3” number were being manufactured from 1963 to 1969, but considering that at the end of 1964 the inner sleeve was changed from the “bright blue” one to the orange-red “Join the Teen Set on Capitol” inner sleeve it can be said with certainty that this copy was pressed somewhere in between June and December 1964. The album is in amazing Mint condition with the fully intact shrink wrap containing two breathe holes on the front cover.
