Description

The Beatles - The Decca Audition Tapes LP:
This listing is for a LP copy of the Decca Audition Tapes. I am the original purchaser back in the 1980's, and it was purchased new. These have remained in my collection and are in mint condition. The deluxe cardboard cover is in good condition with minor ring wear and some aging. The sleeves have yellowing from age.
More info, courtesy of Wikipedia (complete background is documented there):
"Manager Brian Epstein met with record companies in London to secure a record contract for the Beatles and was rejected by many, including Columbia, HMV, Pye, Philips, and Oriole. After Epstein had meetings with both EMI and Decca at the start of December 1961, Decca A&R executive Mike Smith travelled to Liverpool to see the Beatles perform at the Cavern Club, and was impressed enough to ask Epstein to bring the band down to London for a test in Decca's recording studios, scheduled for 1 January 1962.
Neil Aspinall drove the Beatles down to London on New Year's Eve 1961 but lost his way, and the trip took ten hours. They arrived at 10 p.m., "just in time to see the drunks jumping in the Trafalgar Square fountain", as John Lennon described it.[6] Decca's London studio was located less than two miles from EMI's own studio (later known as Abbey Road Studios)."
I have been collecting vinyl since the early 1970's and have many collectable performances that I plan on listing here as time permits. All of my vinyl has been well maintained and cared for. I still use the Discwasher system for maintaining my vinyl collection, and have always used high-quality turntables. I'm not using the standard grading system because I'm not a professional seller, but only selling what's in my personal collection. Much of my vinyl collection was purchased new, and played only once or twice before transferring to another medium, such as tape or digital. Photos may show some dust spots, but each one is cleaned and inspected for any scratches or defects before listing and shipping. I use new cardboard record boxes for shipping to protect your purchase.
Please understand that many collectable releases are not considered to be high-quality and they suffer from the normal issues associated with these types of recordings. These recordings are considered to be more of a historical record of an artist.
Please see my other listings for more vinyl offerings.
