  • ?How in the world did this record manage to avoid a lawsuit from the real Beatles when it was released in 1966? This is NOT a rare Beatles record. It’s actually a pretty good group harmony record that was made in Philadelphia by a disc jockey and television host who called himself The Geator with The Heator and The Boss With The Hot Sauce.  His real name is Jerry Blavat, born 3 July 1940 in South Philly.
     
    The singers are not credited, but we now know who they were. They called themselves the Lytations, a mixture of guys from the Ly-Dells and Quotations. They also recorded a fake version of the incredibly rare Stormy Weather by The Five Sharps, calling themselves The Five Shits. But take a closer look at the label again. One of the composers was “J. Lemmon,” which is clearly a spoof on John Lennon. It’s “A Miracle Production (If It Sells…It’s A Miracle!) The other composer, J. Strong, was actually Jack Strong, lead singer in the group. The other guys in the group were baritone Kenny Harper, first tenor Frank Torpey, second tenor Bob Bintliff, and bass Billy Giangilio.

All records are carefully graded. In an attempt to give customers an accurate impression of condition rather than adhere to somewhat arbitrary criteria, I give an "overall presentation" grade, supplemented when necessary with additional remarks (which is more often than not). GRADING DESCRIPTIONS

Records:

• Sealed:  still factory sealed….any defects will be noted
• Mint: Like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects
• Near Mint/M-:  Extremely nice….generally any defects will be superficial and will be detailed
• VG++:  Still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like
• VG+: A nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a some pops
• VG: A well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, and even a possible skip.
• VG-: A very well-worn record that plays through, probably has skipping and snap, crackle, pop
• Good: Probably will play through but with much in the way of surface noise, pops, crackles, skips etc.
• Fair: You’re getting this record just to own – generally listed due to rarity regardless of condition
• Poor: The sky’s the limit as far as condition in the negative sense – generally listed due to rarity regardless of condition

COVERS:

There are really too many possible defects regarding covers to be as specific in my definitions as I had been with my record grades. But please keep in mind these general grading guidelines as I will use the above grading format with general specific comments as to condition, etc.
