Description
Remember buying The Beatles White Album at Bridge Street Records for around £3 7s 11d yes, pre decimalisation. Then walking home proudly displaying my new LP. I was 15.
First Edition November 1968.
The Beatles. The White Album MONO 1969 Apple. Top loading laminated sleeve.
Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 709-1; Side 2: XEX 710-1; Side 3: XEX 711-1; Side 4: XEX 712-1.
Low Number. 0088547
I know I purchased this when it was first released. BUT please double check all that I have written below
Technical Stuff:
Publishing year printed as “(P) 1968 “Apple Records – All rights of the...” printed at the start of the perimeter print. “Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists" printed above the title.
The left hand side of the label only has “33 1/3“, “Mfd. in U.K.", "Side ...". On right has "PMC 7068", (XEX 711)" small p 1968". Then track listings. Label used November 1968. These labels were printed without “An E.M.I. Recording” text on the left side of the labels, the absence of this text was an oversight. EMI quickly corrected the error in November 1968 and added “An EMI Recording” to the left of the labels, above the 33 1/3, all on one line.
Mother Nos. are v small but think they are Side 1, 4 GM; Side 2, 2G BG; Side 3, 2 P; Side 4 1 T.
Gatefold laminated top loading sleeve has some light marks but the laminate really did its job. Small mark on edge by No. Embossed The BEATLES and number 0088547. Wide Spine
Has a strong spine and clean inside. The sleeve has aged and yellowed a bit. No rips, stickers or writing. Nice and clean. Tiniest bit of ringware please see pics. Small mark on George's hair.
VINYL:
Both Vinyls are very clean and tidy, lay flat, there are hair scratches but nothing bad. From memory this played absolutely fine
Matrices: Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 709-1; Side 2: XEX 710-1; Side 3: XEX 711-1; Side 4: XEX 712-1.
LABELS:
All labels show some very light spindle marks, no writing or names written.
2 x Black die cut inners show some wear but pretty good. 1 has tear along 3 edges, still complete but edges torn. All original though
I bought this in November 1968, still remembering the magic of playing for the first time. "While my guitar gently weeps" played at full volume of course
Special Repeat Green magazine i think is actually 1966
