Description
Rare early UK 22.11.1968 1st Press Mono copy of The Beatles - White Album 2 x LP released on the Apple label PMC 7067/8. A very early numbered copy No. 0037453, this is the version released in error missing the "EMI Recording" on the labels. Gatefold sleeve is a laminated top opening made by Garrod & Lofthouse with heavily embossed The Beatles title to front ( see photos).
Both records have been ultrasonically cleaned in the amazing Degritter and the vinyl has come up clean with numerous fine scuffs, marks and hairlines visible ( see photos). Labels are clean with faint spindle trails & good spindle holes. Graded G+ visually but it playtested better, VG or VG+ in places - see notes below.
We played the album through entirely and it played better than it looks with surprisingly good sound in places. Both records played through as they should with background noise/crackle throughout. No jumping, sticking or skating ( but see playnotes below)
Record 1 Side 1- Background noise but not overpowering, still good stereo imagery & tone. Possibly one small jump at the very start? Record 1 Side 2- Low background noise, does not overpower the music which is enjoyable with fab detail, plays closer to VG - VG+ at times Record 2 Side 3- Some low noise in parts but still completely audible with good detail, plays VG or better. Record 2 Side 4- Background noise but plays better than Side 3, close to VG+ in places.
The gatefold laminated toploader sleeve is showing wear with the spine heavily worn but both leaves are still attached. Discolouration, foxing and ringwear etc - the photos show the exact condition. The inside is much cleaner.
The records are housed in black poly lined inner sleeves.
Low auction start for a very rare opportunity to own an original 1st pressing of this iconic album!
