ITEM DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is The Beatles - Japan Red Wax Mono The Beatles (1968's "White Album"), the 1982 pressing, no OBI, but all other pieces (photos, poster, Japanese lyric sheet) included. Sides 1, 2, and 3 are NM and Side 4 is VG+ only because of a tiny scratch that affects approximately the first 20% of "Savoy Truffle" with diminishing light pops (I tried to capture this in the very center of the 9th photo)--otherwise Side 4 is also NM. Comes with the Japanese style half moon poly inners. The cover has got some light corner and edge wear and a bit of water damage from before I got the record. This has left the following cosmetic damage: a thin brown stain up about 10 cm from the bottom of the spine, a small mottled area approximately 2x4 cm in the bottom left of the front cover, the same sort of mottled area forming a triangle inside the gatefold extending about 5 cm up the inside spine and about 8 cm along the bottom on both sides, and a brown irregular stain on the back of the gatefold extending about 2/3 across but only about 5 cm at its highest. Again, none of this affects the structural integrity of the cover. There are also small areas of similar staining on the bottom right corner of each of the Beatle photos and the bottom left corner of the lyric sheet as a result of being kept inside the openings. Please see the photos as they probably show these flaws better than I can describe them but don't be thrown off by any reflections of room lights/table cloth on the laminated cover!
Bottom Line: With the exception of the cosmetic damage to the sleeve/inserts and that one scratch on "Savoy Truffle" this is a NM player!
US Goldmine Vinyl Grading Guidelines:
- Mint (M): Sealed and/or unplayed.
- Near Mint (NM or M-): Near perfect record and cover. No visible flaws or defects (any manufacturing scuffs should be noted). No unexpected surface noise or other audible issues at normal listening volume.
- Very Good Plus Plus (VG++): Only a very small number of minor flaws present (ex. a couple of faint hairlines, a light scuff). No unexpected surface noise or other audible issues at normal listening volume. Cover shows no significant ring wear, nor seam splits.
- Very Good Plus (VG+): More slight signs of wear but still an excellent condition record that plays well. Any surface noise is very minimal and the record is still an enjoyable listen. No groove wear. Cover may show minor defects including very light ring wear.
- Very Good (VG): More obvious wear. Surface noise evident on playing, especially in soft passages, and during a song's intro and fade but never overpowers the music. Ring wear and other defects evident.
- Good (G): Worn. Significant surface noise throughout, scratches that produce noise, but will play through without skipping.
- Poor (P), or Fair (F): Worn out. Won't play through without skipping or repeating.
