Description
For auction is a super condition rare genuine 1st U.K. Mono issue of The Beatles’ White Album. Very low number top loader sleeve and no ‘An EMI recording’ text on the labels.
Complete and in all round excellent condition.
Original top loader sleeve in excellent condition. Very low number - 0008937. No tears or writing. Has usual discolouration as the white has faded, but otherwise clean with no tears or creases. Has only very slight laminate damage to the notoriously fragile spine. See photo. Most copies have bad damage to spine, but this is great with fully legible printing.
Original four photos in excellent unmarked condition.
Poster in near mint condition
Original black paper inner sleeves are in VG+ condition.
The records
1/1/1/1 first issue matrices. PMC 7067/7068.
No ‘An EMI recording’ on any of the labels. This proves it is the true first issue, as very soon after production started Apple spotted their mistake and added the missing text. Labels clean with only minor spindle wear.
Side 1. Visually is VG+, with only minor scuffs and hairlines. 3MG stamper. Sonically is excellent, with only occasional light crackles in quiet passages and between tracks. No ticks, clicks, skips or jumps.
Side 2. Visually same as side 1. 2RD stamper. Sonically is excellent as with side 1.
Side 3. Visually same as sides 1 & 2. 3TH stamper. Sonically would be EX+ apart from a few light clicks at beginning of Mother Nature’s Son. Rest of side plays perfectly with hardly any crackles at all.
Side 4. Visually I would grade as VG, as there are a couple of long but very superficial scratches. G(1?) GGG stamper. Sonically it is the best of the whole set - the slight scratches make NO effect on the sound at all. I was struggling to hear any crackles even between tracks. Sonically is EX+.
Therefore a complete and super condition genuine 1st Mono issue of a piece of Rock history. The very low number sleeve makes it desirable for any collectors, but the overall condition makes it even better.
