Description
An original UK Apple pressing from spring 1969. Matrix 1/2/1/2. Stampers 3-GMM/7-GHL/3-GPO/5-GLH. This is a transitional pressing from immediately after the widely recognised 1st issues of late-1968. Although the cover is not an early top-loading 1st issue it carries the 7 digit stamped number of those early copies - and opens to the side. The records are from a transitional period where they were just about to stop using the 'Sold In The UK..' statement. As a result only one of the four labels holds this indicator of an early pressing. But all labels show 'An EMI Recording' on one line and a small publishing 'p'. So all of this, along with that early cover, place this LP firmly into spring 1969. So, it technically straddles the 2nd/3rd press. But most importantly this pressing has been manufactured to high standards from those early masters. And it is superbly preserved - resulting in a top-level rendition. Please note there's no lyric inner, but we do have two of the photos [George & Ringo]. Also there are two generic black inner sleeves [i.e.not original].
Vinyl (Ex+/Ex+/Ex+/Ex+) Incredibly well preserved and has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with top-level clarity and minimal interference. We really didn't detect any back ground at all - the whole way through. The only thing we remotely picked up is at the start of the final track of side 3. A small mark causes a couple of light ticks - and even this is very slight. If you really want to get a taste for what one of these 1969 copies can delivery then this is your chance. You will not better the audio on offer here on any other copy.
Cover (Ex+) In terrific condition and has been looked after very carefully indeed. A lovely shiny white cover with barely any fading apparent at all. The embossed text is in great condition as is the 7 digit number. In side and out are absolutely immaculate with very little handling wear at all. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Difficult to imagine bettering...
Black inner (NM) As new....
Photos (Vg+) A touch of ageing, but no nasty marks or tears.
