Description

An original 1st issue of the WHITE ALBUM in Mono [from the time of release]. Note that all four labels mention 'Sold In The UK'. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Do bear in mind it is possible to find very early 1st pressings without 'EMI' statement - this example, however, would have been available in shops one month from 1st release. Very nice heavy pressing as you would expect from a 1968 original copy. The vinyl comes housed in an original top-loading embossed cover - number 0069383 [7 digits]. We also have both original black inner sleeves with flipbacks, 4 original photos, and the lyric poster. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In great condition particularly given the vintage and have only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could make out a few light marks, a superficial trail and one superficial radial mark - but nothing heavy or nasty looking though. ALL fully tested - zero problem. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT ..NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with nothing more than the slight deviation in one spot per side. A surprisingly nice playing copy. These  early pressings were heavy with deep grooves - the mono sound stands a far better of surviving intact under this scenario. When you consider the title and the  vintage - the audio is very very impressive. The mono's really are the best way to take in this 60's classic. I'm getting a pretty clean signalled response. It's not perfect - but hey you would be looking at some serious wedge[$$$$] for an Ex+ from '68. This example is delivering a hell of a lot of that original mana. Up tempo tracks play solid with great energy. But what I find particularly enticing on this copy is it is still managing to deliver a pretty clean rendition into the those low-key fussy tracks...And remember...there are a lot of them! Honey Pie, LLL, Mother Nature, Goodbye, Martha, Blackbird, Piggies. But you know what - they are playing cleaner than on a lot of original WA's. More than sufficiently to really get the vibe - and nothing that  will irritate or distract. Overall - very impressive. Expect a few crackles in a couple of tracks [e.g. Prudence].. Expect [at worst] - a couple of minor ticks in one track per side. But I'd argue there's nothing, here, that would put me off at all. It's hitting a high batting average - consistently. It's a great copy!
Cover (Vg+) Ok, so this cover is really a nice specimen. The first thing to note - which I cannot demonstrate in the pics is that this cover has excellent rigidity. A lot of the originals were made of stiff card - but lots of examples end up getting beaten about and feel a bit wibbly wobbly by 2022. But you could eat your dinner off this bad-boy - it is totally solid. I think I've only witnessed one other  copy like this. Then also take into consideration - this is a 69k copy. Now, that's not super early - but you are within the 1st 20% of original copies. I'd argue that is good company to be keeping! Note the cover is more creamy than white in colour now - this is almost impossible to avoid over this time frame. What I like about this copy is the preservation levels of the panels. No nasty markings - just a couple of creases on the front. Edge wear is very limited for an original WA - I mean quite unusually so. The spine is looking well above average. It might be one of the earlier wide spines - but it has folded down the middle [as many do]..so you're not getting the full original width. The internals are looking superb. The top openings are sharp and firm - which is quite unusual. Overall -  a bit of humdinger.
Inner (Ex-) Better than you typically find. A one inch bottom edge split.
Photos (Vg) On the face of it - very nice. But expect the rears to be quite grubby [they've been one a wall].
Poster (Vg-) Quite worn. Heavily taped up. But it is the genuine article.
