Description
An original 1st press of the WHITE ALBUM on the UK Apple label from 1968. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Stampers 3-OL/4-OT/1-AP/6-PG. Please note, importantly, the very 1st labels used on the WHITE ALBUM do NOT include the EMI recording text on the labels - this is absent on all four of the labels on this copy. This statement can be found on all later copies from the time of release and on wards - but on the very 1st copies it was absent. Also please note the 'Sold In The UK..' statement can be found at the top of the labels - this is indicative of 1st issue too. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original embossed top-loading 'stereo' cover. The cover's number is "0468738". Also included in this bundle is the original lyric poster-sheet and all four original high quality photos. We also have two black inner sleeves, but these are replicas [effectively] - not the original article.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition for a true 1st white album and have seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection do expect a few marks either side - but nothing heavy or likely to cause significant issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes with great clarity. It is not a perfect copy, but it is pretty darn good and I was impressed all the way through. It's got the quality that only those true early copes have. Thankfully, because it has been well cared for, all that quality audio is still there for your enjoyment. Interference is relatively minor and infrequent. All we could detect was a touch of light static in a couple of places. By and large this copy plays through clean and is thoroughly impressive. The only vague issue we had was a semi-feelable mark in track 1 which causes a 'pop'. But we have tested it repeatedly/thoroughly it plays through fine - just with this brief 'pop'. Providing you can live with this relatively minor aberration the remainder of the LP will knock your socks off. Very difficult to find fault and just delivers great audio all the way through. A player and a keeper.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and how many WHITE ALBUM covers look quite this good 51 years down the line? Lovely clean front and the cover does seem to have mostly escaped the usual ageing process. There's a couple of tiny thumbnail creases front and back. The only vaguely visible issue is a small brown stain/spot which is visible in the bottom left quadrant on the rear. Other than that it is quite a looker! Ditto the interior - no faults at all. The spine is in well above average condition. It has folded over, which is common, but the text is still clear and legible without heavy wear. Overall edge wear is light and there's nothing unsightly to complain at. And the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very very nice example which you can't but be impressed with.
Lyric Poster (Ex) One or two light age spots. No splitting/tears or markings.
Photos (Ex+) The originals really are quality through and through. These four are nigh on perfect.
Inner (Ex) Replicas - fine no issues or ripping.
