Description
On offer here is a very respectable example of the classic Beatles White double album. This is an original 1968 UK Stereo LP with the numbered sleeve 0336917, the black inners, photos and dark green apple label LP's. It also has the first press matrix numbers ending in 1/1/1/1. Although not quite a final upgrade it would still be a great addition to any record collection.
The open top cover is in great shape, the laminate nice and shiny. There are a few minor laminate creases and an odd light mark or two. The spine is still legible, although the cover has been opened many times . There is a little edge wear at the top of the cover but all these pointers are very minor. I will grade the cover a conservative VG+.
The black inners are quite worn and do have the usual creases, tears and the odd split, but they are the originals. I will grade as Fair to Good. The 4 photos have a little wear at the top but are still in very nice condition, grading as Near Excellent. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO LYRIC POSTER.
The 2 records are the original dark green Apple design label with the heading Sold in UK subject to resale price conditions near the top. Visually the records have been played but well looked after. There is spindle wear on all 4 sides and light hairlines indicative of sleeve removal. Luckily there are no deep scratches, scuffs or any other marks likely to affect the sound quality of the vinyl. I will grade as VG+. Also the records have the 1/1/1/1 matrix endings.
All 4 sides of the record play really well and have great clarity and sound on my record player. There is the odd light occasional static and 2 clicks on Julia but that's it. This is such a difficult LP to find in decent playing condition but there are no problems with this one. It is a pleasure to listen to all these songs sounding so clear and fresh. I will grade all 4 sides as Near Excellent condition.
The matrix numbers are Side 1 YEX709 1, Side 2 YEX710 1, Side 3 YEX711 1 and Side 4 YEX 712 1.
Altogether this LP is in very respectable condition , and although not quite a final upgrade the winner will be glad to have this added to their collection.
