Description
A true 1968 original “DECCA RECORDS” in-house Promo. Dark Apple labels omitting “EMI Recording” on both discs. Tatty, but repaired, original black inners. Disc 2 is heavy-duty vinyl. Vinyl shows handling (more on Disc 2 than Disc 1 surprisingly). Playback reflects this with surface-noise throughout both discs (still listenable). Side 3 has “DECCA PROMOTIONAL COPY” written in red biro (most likely an in-house library copy)! The sleeve is solid, yet it does show it’s age in the pictures provided. The rear of the sleeve has DECCA catalogue information (sort of) imprinted, again most likely from an in-house library available to executives and artists working for the label (there is an indentation from another White Album “The Beatles” on the rear, suggesting that there were indeed several copies of the album sent to Decca). The Beatles had a working relationship with Decca throughout their early career, and Decca would sometimes help press their records when there was a huge demand and/or order. The album is in overall very good shape considering her age, and a special find for those interested in owning a piece of “Beatles History”. The original poster is included and a little grubby/aged. Original photos are present and are in VG “handled” condition. All -1’s in the runouts (no special stampers I’m afraid, but both records show a consistency by being double lettered on each runout on all four sides). K T tax code present on side 4. I do not know how many copies in total were sent to Decca, but it may be safe to assume at least 15.
