1973 press
This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

The Vinyl:
VG.
Gorgeous shiny vinyl.
Very nice-a simple joy to listen to.
Quite a few light marks and 3 light white 'spots' to side 1-see if you can spot them in the detailed images provided.
After playing her all the way through, I found one tiny skip to Blackbird...I am sure this would be played over, without a problem, with a heavier stylus as I couldn't find the offending mark on the vinyl...
Just a gentle, professional clean, to get the dust out of the grooves and she'll be even more quiet inbetween tracks and the run-ins....She is lovely right now!
FLAT
The labels: EX. All four of the labels are extremely bright and clean with only a few spindle marks. "Mfd in the U.K." and "An EMI recording" text on all four sides.
Just a few very light spindle marks visible when angled towards the light!
Matrix Numbers: YEX: 709-1, 710-3, 711-1 & 712-2
The Cover: VG+. It is the 1973 pressing as there isn't a number to the front, opens at the side and doesn't have the flipback BUT remains FULLY LAMINATED..
There are some indentations to the laminate, light fingers of spidering and a 12cm water mark to the top left corner of the back gatefold.
Saying that, she is really very nice, remaining white and carrying a lovely strong spine-which is legible!
Light ringwear evident, from housing the records for the last 40 years.
Inners: White poly-lined inners which are die-cut and original to the pressing. They do have wear and one has a split down the centre and the other a tiny one to the side. BUT certainly done their jobs in keeping the vinyl in GREAT condition.
Pictures: The one downside is they aren't present (but you can get hold of these from Ebay, separately).
Poster: Not here, I am afraid.
ALL IN ALL IT IS A COLLECTORS ITEM, READY TO BE COMPLETED WITH PICS AND POSTER.
THE AUDIO IS WONDERFULLY RICH AND THE COVER FULLY LAMINATED (There weren't that many produced in 1973!)
I'd grab this one to play for yourselves, if you have a mint copy you daren't touch ;)
