Genuine 1968 UK FIRST PRESSING 30-track double stereo LP with 'Sold in UK' label text, dark green Apple labels, black inner sleeves, large fold out lyric poster and four glossy 8" x 11" high quality colour photoprints in a fully laminated, top opening, individually numbered internal flipback gatefold sleeve. This is a guaranteed genuine first pressing from '68 without the “'An E.M.I. Recording” text on the labels that is found on some so-called first pressings.
The records look good, apart from the usual superficial hairline scratches and scuffs, and play nicely with no jumps or big plops (I was amazed how good they sounded after all this time) but are a bit crackly – some sides more than others – therefore I have graded them Very Good. But please do bear in mind that these are 45 years old popular records and audio grading is very subjective.
The cover (number 0477662) is in reasonable, but well used, condition with considerable wear and tear along the top edges and, of course, discolouration, but surprisingly little shelf-wear or laminate lift and no splits; the four 8” x 11” photographs are Near Mint; the poster is in good condition, but has been pinned up, and the inner sleeves are in fair condition with just a little wear and tear around the die-cut centre holes. Please examine the above pictures closely before bidding. A very nice collector’s copy of this first pressing of one of the most important LPs ever released.
Highly desirable for its 1/1/1/1 first pressing matrices and good condition vinyl, and increasingly difficult to find in ANY condition, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine 1968 UK first pressing. The records are in Very Good condition; the photographs are in Near Mint condition; and the cover, poster and inners are in Good condition. This was The Beatles tenth official album release, their FIRST double, and their FIRST on Apple.
The proper name of the album is simply, "The Beatles", but almost immediately it became known affectionately as "The White Album" due to its packaging.
What is true, is that this was the first release by The Beatles which contains purely solo material. In fact, some tracks are even recorded that way, for example, "Julia" was a solo Lennon recording - his first ever.
Once again The Beatles had over a quarter of a million advance orders, and of course went straight to number 1. This was the first double album EVER to get to the top slot where it stayed for 7 weeks in a row. It sold so many, that once again The Beatles also made the singles chart, consequently the ONLY double album to ever enter that chart. By the end of the year, just over a month later, the white album had sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide, and by the end of 1970 global sales were around 6.5 million.
The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalistic approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on its rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly.
Original copies also have a top opening sleeve, and black paper inner sleeves.
