Description

You are bidding on the 1966 - Beatles - Yesterday and Today album on Capitol Rainbow in Stereo (ST-2553) with the very rare and infamous"Butcher" cover.
When these were first released and then recalled due to the public out-cry, the record company fortunately was cheap and pasted over the original cover with a more consumer friendly cover.
Once the hard core fans found out, they tried to steam off the new cover to expose the original - this is known as 3rd State.
I bought this one in 1981 at Easy Street Records in Seattle and tucked it away until now.
Cover - quite rough as you can see in the pictures as the person who steamed it was probably impatient and hence the tears. The spine is cracking but not split through.  The back has some stuck paper probably from the steaming process.
Vinyl - the record is well played and has loads of surface scratches.  Sounds pretty good although a bit crackly and poppy and I did find a sticking skip on "And your bird can sing".
Inner sleeve - good shape, split on one side however is the original advert sleeve
All in all, it is still pretty cool as it marks a period in history where people had to stoop to such things to avoid censorship.
This has always been a treasure of my collection however I now need to off load some relics.
Will post to the UK only or you are welcome to collect in the Wokingham / Reading area.
Will post insured with signature required
I will gladly accept returns however you pay postage both ways.
Happy Bidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
