Description
The Beatles Yesterday and Today Butcher 3rd State In Stereo
From the information I have this is a first west coast pressing. A small 5 is present on the back of the cover and * present on the vinyl’s runout indicating a Los Angeles pressing.
Matrix ID on runout side 1: ST-1-2553-B-16' 1 *
Matrix ID on runout side 2: ST-2-2553-B-18' 1 *
It sounds great! The vinyl is shiny and looks like a new record. A few faint scratches that do not affect sound. It plays and sounds fantastic!
VG+ I am not a professional record grader but I follow the Goldmine grading guide standards (visual grading only).
Spine straight no splits
No ring wear
Sharp corners
Original inner sleeve included
The sleeve has the original plastic wrap on for protection. Clear tape was used around the opening of the cover to secure the plastic. The tape is now yellow but is removable. Underneath the yellowed taped edge of original plastic wrap is a thin strip of paper that must have been originally attached to the pasted trunk cover. That paper is easily removed as I have shown in one of the images.
1 owner . This is from my dad’s collection. He peeled the trunk cover off himself when he bought it in 1966. He thought the butcher image was cool and I remember him telling me “I peeled it because I liked it.” I wish I would have asked him how he peeled it but he did a decent job and the majority of the trunk image stayed intact. Then he just slid it underneath the plastic wrap on the back of the cover. It is removable as shown in the pictures.
I took a picture of the back of the peeled trunk image and shined a light on it. This image can be compared it to the “butcher” image and verify that it was peeled from this album. The easiest way to see this is to note the “n” that is part of the word “And” in the title on the “butcher “ image. The color that is missing from “n” is on the back of the peel.
I think that the imperfect state of the trunk picture just helps verify authenticity.
