Description
Record plays well and clearly with no skips; there is a slight faint scratch audible on "Cry for a Shadow" (Side 1, 2nd track), however, but not objectionable. Record has a few visible light surface scuffs that do not affect sound quality. Album sleeve has some wear but not excessive. Light scuffing on upper, lower edges of album sleeve, and top right 6 in. of album sleeve is split. Overall Very Good condition for a 60-year-old album.
Tony Sheridan was a British musician popular in Hamburg, Germany, and he and the Beatles play together on four of this album's 12 tracks - "My Bonnie," "Cry for a Shadow," "The Saints" (an updated "When the Saints Go Marching In"), and "Why". Other featured performers on the record are The Titans, with nice versions of "The Darktown Strutters Ball" and "Happy New Year Beat," a rearrangement of "Auld Lang Syne".
An historical record, and a fascinating listen to the early Beatles sound when they were still building a following in the clubs of Hamburg and at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.
