This rare original pressing of The Beatles' historic first appearance on record dates from January 1962
The disc bears the orange white & gold Polydor labels (24 673) and has the 'Twist' subtitle to 'My Bonnie' and plays the English introduction to that song.
Matrix numbers: 24673-4A & 24673-2B
'Made in Germany' is also machine stamped into both run-outs.
The disc is housed within an original (not copied) printed thin paper picture cover with the 'Twist' banner on the front panel.
CONDITION
Disc: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain their deep-gloss shines. Both sides bear several light surface marks and stylus hairlines which are more numerous on the 'B' side, however none are deep or 'feelable' and both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Well known for its remarkable fidelity, this 45 does not disappoint soundwise. The superb recording shines through both songs with a sparkling sound quality and rich deep bass missing from their EMI recordings. My single careful play-check at volume detected a little light background during the quieter introduction to the song but no trace of any groove/playwear or any significant or major audible faults or distractions.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
Given its fragility and its age, this 50 year-old example is in remarkable condition and is seldom found in better shape. This 100% original example has been carefully stored in a non-smoking environment all its life and displays nothing more than one of two light handling bends but it is otherwise 'as new' throughout. Both front and rear panels are free from any stains, writing or any other such blemishes and and there are no tears or seams splits anywhere. No need to upgrade this one.
