PRESSING INFORMATION:

This particular pressing is one of the early batches to be pressed. The early batches of the White Album had 'Mfd In UK' printed at the 9 o'clock position on the centre label, whereas the later batches had 'An EMI Recording' printed at this position. The label also states at 12 o'clock 'Sold in U.k. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists'. The unique serial number on the cover is also very low. This coupled with the mother/stamper numbers suggest that this was a first pressing and was pressed a fair bit before they decided to change the label text.

CONDITION:

THE COVER:

The cover is incredible considering it is a 40 year old laminated cover! The front cover as well as the back and middle flip section are all pretty much in the same condition, they have slight yellowing at the edges with no tears, creases or peeling of the laminate, there is no ring indentation from the vinyl inside and is still in fantastic condition. The laminated 'Garrod and Lofthouse' desined cover is top loading, consistent with the earlier pressings. The opening top edges are still in very good condition, there are no splits at all but marginal signs of the record having been taken out and put back in.The only wear I can see is marginal at the corners, but slight. The lower left hand corner does seem to have a slight water stain of about 8mm from the corner upward but the laminate is still in tact.

THE SPINE:

The spine laminate has split most of the way but the laminate that is still apparent on the spine is still firmly adhered. The spine has written on it 'THE BEATLES Stereo PCS 7067-8 MONO PMC 7067-8'.

THE INNER RECORD SLEEVES:

The black paper inner sleeves are where the most visible damage is. There is some wear at the top of both of them consistent with being pulled out and put back in again. The top edge of the paper is softer and more pliable than the rest due to the wear. There are also 3 small rips in the top edge of the sleeve on one of them and five on the second sleeve. None of the paper has been ripped off but there are slight fold lines and it needs to be handled carefully to prevent further damage. The rips range from a couple of milimetres to the largest being about 2cm. The inner circle of these sleeves has also been damaged on both due to efforts of sliding the record back in the sleeve only for it to catch the edge of the cut out circle and rip accordingly. The first has 5 rips, 3 of these are grouped, causing between them two folds. One rip and fold is approx. 1cm width, the second about 1.5cm. Opposite to these rips are two larger rips. They have not caused any folding damage but one is about 4cm long and the other about 5cm long. There is also ring indentation and some soft fold damage to the flexible corners of the sleeve. The second sleeve has 3 rips at the top the largest being about 2 cm and one corner has some fold damage. The inner cut out circle is less damaged than the previous one having one slight nick and two small rips of about 3/4 of a cm, this has however folded over and caused fold damage.

THE INNER RECORD LABEL: The Labels are excellent on all sides, the discrepencies on close examination are slight wearing on sides 1,2 and 3. On all four sides, if you hold them up to the light and tilt the record from side to side to catch the light you can make out minor indentation marks from when someone has tried to align the spindle hole with the spindle, but this is not visible apart from on close inspection under direct light. The labels are still glossy and all text is strong and clear.

THE VINYL ITSELF: On all four sides there are a few surface scratches visible under direct light, but none that are deep enough to affect the playing of the record as far as I can see, unfortunately having no record player I cannot confirm to you this 100%, but based on experience I cannot see anything which would affect the records being played. From what I can remember there were no problems in playing and it has been kept carefully and safely since it was last played which was at least 10 years ago.

THE POSTER AND PHOTOS: The poster is in pristine condition having never really been taken out for any particular reason apart from the odd look. This poster also has the notable 'Lipstick kiss' on it which was not on later versions of the album. There 2 pinprick holes at the middle folds due to the natural fold point, but nothing else. The photos are in great condition but there are slight water spots on the John Lennon photo and there are some vaguely visible surface wear to all the photos if studied under direct light. The Paul McCartney photo also does have a superficial fold in the bottom left hand corner. The fold damage is evident but is not sharp damage, more of an accidental fold which was was then straightened.

Any years or serial numbers are ones I have found on the record itself. Any damage I have described is done so as honestly and descriptively as I can, I do feel that the level of damage is all relative to individual perspective and would rather be as honest as possible. Should you feel I have understated anything once received, then I am more than happy to refund the sale price once the record is returned so long as it is in the condition I have sent it out to you in, and so long as it is properly packaged on return.
