Description
This is the album by Faces titled "The Best of Faces - Snakes And Ladders". Released in 1976 by Warner Bros. Records. Catalog #BS-2897. Length: 49:05, 12 rock songs. Rob Stewart was the lead singer on almost all the songs. Other musicians were guitarist Ron Wood who would later join the Rolling Stones. Drummer Kenney Jones became part of the Who. The record is in good condition because it has not been played. No scratches, skips, or pops. This has been stored upright on my album rack in my home. I worked in the entertainment business here in Hollywood and got a lot of records for free. Sometimes duplicates. The jacket is still in its factory sealed plastic wrap opened along one edge. Sleeve inside is in good condition. I'm including a B&W photo of the band printed on an 8½"x11" sheet of paper. Plus a biography. Faces are an English rock band formed in 1969 by members of Small Faces after lead singer and guitarist Steve Marriott left to form Humble Pie. The remaining Small Faces—Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane (electric bass, vocals), and Kenney Jones (drums and percussion)—were joined by guitarist Ronnie Wood and singer Rod Stewart, both from the Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces. Their first two albums, "First Step" (1970) and "Long Player" (1971), lacked a hit single, but their third album, 1971's "A Nod Is As Good As a Wink... to a Blind Horse", bolstered by the success of Stewart's solo work, became a worldwide hit, peaking at number 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart and spawning the band's first hit single, "Stay with Me". Tensions in the band came to a head during the recording of their fourth (and final) studio album. The band broke up at the end of 1975. ©Wikipedia "Snakes and Ladders / The Best of Faces" was an October 1976 release. This US-only release presented the first attempt to compile the popular songs from the group after they had disbanded in 1975. The selections are however heavily biased in favor of Rod Stewart's contribution to the group, with only one track featuring Wood on vocals, and none featuring Ronnie Lane, the group's secondary vocalist and songwriter. Lane was a prominent founder member of the band and sang on and solely composed several tracks on each of the group's four original studio albums. Although, he had left the band in 1973. Subsequent compilations, however, would go to great lengths to redress this collection's lack of representation of Lane's work. ©WikipediaPayment
