Description
VG+/VG+. Original First Press (1981). "The Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens Band" (better known as (The B. B. and Q Band) released their self-titled debut album, under the Capitol Records label. The album is best described as a premier showcase of post-disco, funk, and New York "boogie" soul. It was not created by a traditional, organic group, but was instead a studio concept engineered by businessman and producer Jacques Fred Petrus and Italian composer Mauro Malavasi (who also produced the group Change). They utilized a sophisticated blend of session musicians, including lead vocalist Ike Floyd and bassist Paris Ford. " Brooklyn Bronx and Queens" also features a young Luther Vandross in some of his earliest recordings as a studio background vocalist, right as he was launching his legendary solo career.
The album's definitive highlight is the hit single "On the Beat," which reached number eight on the Billboard R /B charts and became a massive club success, celebrated for its driving, infectious bassline and energetic piano grooves.
