Original UK rough orange Elektra mono press LP.

The second album by the Butterfield Blues Band recorded in July at Chess Studios, Chicago and released in August 1966. The album featured blues & Jazz standards alongside longer jam style tracks, especially the track East-West written by Bloomfield & Graventes. This experimentation with Jazz, Blues and Rock themes proved to be highly influential on the West Coast Scene. Due to problems setting up in the UK, Elektra initially had to import sleeves for their albums from the USA, but  they were able to press their own albums, but soon turned this over to Polydor.

This is the original mono issue with first UK made sleeve, with the 'Distributed In Great Britain...' rear text (soon changed to Manufactured In...), the rough orange & black big 'E' Elektra labels, with the 'Recording First Published....' text and the A- B- matrices & no stampers of the first presses (see Discogs).   The fully laminated UK sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some corner/edge wear & some laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some laminate lifting along the spine of the rear cover and a small sticker scar on one corner. The spine is intact, slightly crushed and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of sleeve removal hairlines/scuffs and one or two small needle scuffs/marks visible on each side. The labels are clean & bright in EX condition, with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side side.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and briely in a couple of quieter passages. Overall, a really great, loud and clear listen.   The hand etched matrix nos. are; EKL-315, A-, stamper ?, B- stamper ?. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1966 UK mono issue of this album.
