Description
This is rather rare copy of The Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man" on 45rpm RED vinyl. It is a promotional "Radio Station Copy" with Mr. Tambourine Man" on both sides of the record. It was released in 1965 (50 years ago) by Columbia with a catalog number of 4-43271. The record was published by M. Witmark & Sons. Mr Tambourine Man was the first hit by The Byrds and was the first song written by Bob Dylan that went to number 1 on the charts. It was the first folk rock song to gain great popularity and helped to launch the folk rock tradition.
Apart from being on red, see-through vinyl, this copy has runout marks of RZSP-72245-1C and RZSP-72245-1D on its two sides. I cannot see any scratches on either side of the vinyl. The inner paper label has darker smudges on both sides. There are initials of the owner from whom this record was obtained written on one side of its inner paper (about 3/4 of an inch long), as well as on the paper sleeve. Otherwise, the paper sleeve has one major crease in it, some age-related darkening and a few minor dings.
Certainly, this promotional copy of Mr. Tambourine Man is much more rare than the commercially distributed copy. It is a very nice addition to a vinyl collection.
