This is a killer, orig '66 psych 45 with some of the coolest sounding fuzz guitar. It is a U.S. pressing on the DATE promo label #2-1538.  JZSP 116564-1C/JZSP 116566-1C numbers are stamped in trail off wax. It is the only record put out by this group called: THE CHAIN REACTION, that features the lead vocals of a guy named STEVEN TALLARICO, Aka STEVEN TYLER of AEROSMIITH. Also, the one is very RARE as the labels are reversed.  The A side playse the B side and vice versa.  I playgraded it and both songs are there just with the labels on the reverse sides.  Very RARE indeed.  If you search for the rarest and best psych, Aerosmith, etc records, this is a must have to add to your collection. THE DRUMMER OF CHAIN REACTION HAS MENTIONED THAT The CHAIN REACTION PUT OUT TWO 45s, ONE WAS ON THE VERVE LABEL, & THIS WAS THE OTHER ONE. HE ALSO STATES THAT THIS IS VERY HARD TO FIND AND NOT MANY WERE PRESSED. The tunes are really great and its in nice condition.  No writing on the labels.

Graded Vinyl/Cover (PLAYGRADED):  EX to EX+  (looks VG+ with lots of scuffs, but plays much better on my Denon w/ NO major pops, just a few minor ticks that are barely noticeable.I was very surpised at how nice it is)!!

Grading

Scale:

Here's a guideline for how I grade records. Not all records will fit "exactly" into a certain grade, and one should assume a certain amount of tolerances within each grade. 

Assume grading to be "visual" unless noted.  I grade under a powerful 100 watt bulb.

+/-:  I use pluses and minuses to help indicate more or less issues in a certain grade.

Grades for vinyl :

M : new, un-played, perfect.

NM: like new but possibly carefully played a limited amount of times. Should play near perfect with almost no noise or imperfections. May show very faint imperfections from paper scuffs or tiny needle marks.

EX : as above with a few light needle marks, or a few  light surface scuffs, and/or lightly audible marks. a very nice used record

VG : still showing gloss but lots of small scratches and scuffs or some groove wear. A used/played record that should still play through without skips, but will have light surface noise throughout, pops, ticks, and maybe some light distortion/sibilance. I do not consider VG to be a complete junk grade

VG- to G : any record in less than VG condition that I feel is still worth offering due to rarity, but it may have  play problems.

Grades for covers:

M : perfect. no wear, square flat corners, solid seams, spine etc., Usually sealed

NM : overall appearance of front and back near perfect but may have a very small problem such as a small corner ding/couple tiny spine chips, but nothing noticeable without close inspection

EX : as above, nice "un-handled" feel, but may have more spine wear, a bent corner or two, very light ring wear, but rarely any splits or tears

VG: still have a nice overall appearance, but may have the following defects: seam splits, spine splits, small tears, ring wear, writing, small stains, etc. in various (not severe) degrees. 

VG- to G : getting ugly, but for still worth offering due to rarity.

INFORMATION:

This outfit operated out of Sunapee, New Hampshire and were orginally known as The Strangers. Influenced by The Rolling Stones, they turned professional in '64 becoming The Stranguers and then The Chain Reaction. A 45 for the CBS subsidiary Date met with little success, although the band were regulars on the NY circuit and even got to open for The Yardbirds.

After they eventually folded in June 1967, Tallarcio worked in the studio with the last version of The Left Banke before working the New York club scene with Chain in 1967-1968. He then moved back to Boston where that group split in 1969, worked with Fox Chase (1969) and William Proud (1970) before trying out for the reforming Jeff Beck Group.

Tallarcio was then teamed up with The Jam Band by Henry Smith, a roadie and gofer not only for The Stranguers, but also the Yardbirds, The Jeff Beck Group and even Led Zeppelin. In 1970 he changed names to Steve Tyler and with the remnants of The Jam Band formed Aerosmith.
