The Chantelles: I Want That Boy & Unreleased Emidisc Acetate 1960's Female Pop

	$		69

This is an original 1965 "Parlophone" 7" Single entitled "I Want That Boy". Also included is, an "Emidisc" Acetate, again from the mid 1960's, which appears to be two unreleased songs by The Chantelles. The A-side "Another Time Another World" appears to be in circulation. It is on Youtube to hear for instance. It appears to be the same version as this. However, it doesn't actually appear to have been released by them. The B-side "As I Love You", however, appears to be unreleased and not in circulation. However, I could be wrong as I am not an expert on this group.

The Chantelles were a mid 1960's UK Female Pop group. UK original 7" singles are quite rare. This Acetate is perhaps unique? I have listed & graded them both below:

1.  I Want That Boy/ London My Home Town (Parlophone R5271 UK 7" 1965)

UK 1st pressing. It has black & silver "Parlophone" labels which have a 4 pronged centre. The record has 1st press -1/ -1 matrix stampers. It comes with its original company "Parlophone" paper sleeve.

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or more moderate sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are 5 or 6 light hairline marks. These measure from 1 cm to 4 cm in length. Good++ condition. The labels are in Very Good condition. There is a small initial in pencil on both sides. Otherwise, mild spindle wear. The Parlophone company paper sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. Overall, a very decent audio copy.

2. Another Time, Another World/ As I Love You (Emidisc mid 1960's Acetate 7" Single)

An extremely rare, possibly unique, mid 1960's UK Acetate 7" Single. It appears that neither of these tracks were actually released by The Chantelles in the UK. Therefore, this acetate is of extreme interest to any fan of the group, or fan of mid 1960's UK Female Pop. The disc has generic plain "Emidisc" labels which have handwritten details on both labels. It comes with a period plain white paper sleeve.

Condition: Unfortunately, this disc was stored for years in an unsuitable environment. The disc has considerable white speckled mould, or staining, on both sides (see photo). This, I believe, is a common problem with acetates of this era that have been incorrectly stored. It could, however, be extremely carefully cleaned by an expert in this field. Because of the white mould/ staining, it is difficult to grade the vinyl accurately. But it appears to be okay underneath. Overall, because of the mould/ staining, this acetate grades in Fair+ condition. The labels are in Good++ condition. There is light, mild or very mild fading & staining. There is an initial on the A-side label. As stated, the track details are handwritten on both labels. The paper sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing.

I have fully play tested this 7" Acetate single. It plays Fair+ to Good overall. There is moderate to considerable crackle in the background to a varying degree. However, the music still shines through! As stated, this disc could be professionally cleaned to remove the dirt, mould or staining. Therefore, it is possible that sound quality may well be vastly improved too. It does not jump, skip or stick. As stated, underneath the dirt/ mould, the grooves appear to be quite clean.
