Original 1st US pressing of The Chantel’s “C’est Si Bon” extended play album released by End Records. After the release of the “I Love You So” EP, The Chantels released the second EP in July, 1958 featuring four singles: “I’ll Walk Alone”, “Memories”, “C’est Si Bon” and “Congratulations”. It was unprecedented as The Chantels released only 4 singles prior to the release of the EPs. Just like in the case with the first EP “I Love You So”, when creating the design for the “C’est Si Bon” cover, End Records used one of the photos which could be conventionally called “Southern Plantation”. Unlike the photo on the picture sleeve of the “I Love You So”, the background with the church has been removed on the cover of “C’est Si Bon” and replaced with a solid vivid yellow color. It was the combination of the white gloves the band members were wearing and the church which seemed discriminatory because the entrance to the church without white gloves during slavery was prohibited. Released in October, the cover of “We’re The Chantels” LP also used the photo where the background with the church was airbrushed, but just like on the “C’est Si Bon”, the white gloves remained intact which evoked resentment among the racism intolerant music listeners. Very quickly, the covers were withdrawn and the records were repackaged in the cover of a different design which has been called the “Jukebox” cover. It’s worth noting that the 1st issue laminated front picture sleeve of “C’est Si Bon” with the “EP-202” catalog number contains a blank back, which in the history of LP covers, along with the “Introducing the Beatles” blank back cover, is a rare occurrence, and the picture sleeve of this copy is in truly pristine Mint Minus condition. Original 1st print End Records label variation without “A Product of End Music Inc., New York, N.Y.” credit. 45 RPM Extended Play EP-202 labels with a two-part doggie logo. Even though this issue was released on End Records, the runout grooves indicate “Gone”, the name of Gone Records, which along with End Records was created and owned by George Goldner. The full matrix numbers of this 1st pressing are as follows: Side 1 - Gone EP Side One -10- 259-260; Side 2 - Gone EP Side Two G-263-253. The record also comes with the original very rare End Records “inner sleeve” with the company’s logo and “A Product of End Recording Co.” credit.

  The very rare cardboard picture sleeve of this copy is in truly stunning condition and is graded as Mint Minus. It doesn't have any splits, writing, residue, wear, scuffs, shelf wear or ring wear. The laminated front cover retains its beautiful gloss while the back cover is snow white clean. The "Product of End Recording Co." is also in amazing condition and doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces. We grade the vinyl as somewhere between Strong Very Good and Very Good Plus. It retains its beautiful factory lacquer but has some light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks as well as scuffs from the paper sleeve. The labels are very clean and in Near Mint condition without having any scuffs, wear or spindle marks. The vinyl sounds great only having some very light occasional static which most likely would go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
