The Churls 1969 garage psych fuzz rock Ugly Ducklings meets the Haunted HEAR

Vinyl pressing of Churls - Same on the U.S. A&M label from 1969. For a description of the music I'm going to use parts of the entry in Acid Archives submitted by A.M. It's good & it's spot on. The cover of this l.p. is a nice VG++. The back cover has sticker residue on it from a promo sticker that was removed. It's round & larger than a silver dollar. I played several songs & they all sounded Mint-. So I'll grade this l.p. EX+ to be sure.

This Canadian band merges the garage sound of the Ugly Ducklings and the Haunted with a more up-to-date hard rock vibe. There is a youthful energy and solid vocal style that really carries this l.p. There is a monster trippy tune called "Time Piece" that blows away every other tune & it's not that the other tunes are bad. "Time Piece" is just that good. The link to hear it along with 2 other songs is below. There are many hidden pleasure on this l.p. that reveal themselves more & more with each listen.

What a great find! These five guys from Canada try to create a sound somewhere floating between The Archies, Cream, and touches of Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their more “bubblegummy” sing-a-long tracks are more to my liking. They also attempt a Rolling Stones-type bit of baroque pop in PRINCESS MARY MARGARET. Not my favorite here but pretty decent harpsichord/acoustic tomfoolery. Unlike other Canadian psych bands like: Copperpenny, Paupers, Collectors, Mashmakhan, and The Wackers, The Churls had that certain something that could have really exploded in the states. I have no idea what went wrong. They were on A&M and distributed by Quality Records in Canada. They should have been huge.
