The Clash 5 Studio Albums 180g VINYL BOX SET (now out of print)
Released as a limited run in 2013 to accompany the SOUND SYSTEM cd boxed set, this unique offering of the Clash’s five studio albums is now out of print and hard to find.
It was bought new. The box has been opened but the records have NOT been played.
The one disappointing thing (and sadly I’ve seen this on many 180g re-issued vinyl) is that the manufacturers seem to have used the original cover specifications which weren’t designed to house heavyweight vinyl. As a result, some of the sleeves have split (see photo) under the pressure. My other copy (I have two) is the same…
The outer box (a flight case styled box with lift-off top) has one slight ding (see photo) and besides the eight 180gram Audiophile Vinyl discs, it comes with a D.I.Y. Clash stencil and all original album inserts / lyric sheets.
This is great for Clash collectors or vinyl junkies looking for a comprehensive introduction to the band. The mint and un-played discs included are:
1. The Clash – their raw 1977 garage-land debut
2. Give ‘Em Enough Rope – the slick, heavy, punky follow up
3. London Calling – one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time: a double album from 1979
4. Sandinista! – the brilliant, sprawling, triple album homage to the Clash’s world music roots featuring reggae, funk, rap, dub and soul. Released in 1980
5. Combat Rock – the final album with more than just the famous pop hits and the big choruses.
This is a reluctant sale of duplicates in my collection to make space and because of that and the slight sleeve wear, I’m offering it at a much better price than when these rarities come up on eBay...
Again, discs are mint / unplayed.
