Pretty IMMACULATE and RARE ORIGINAL U.K. CBS DEMO pressing of The Clash’s ‘London Calling’ DBL L.P. (Catalogue Reference: CBS CLASH 3).  This features the original black and white labels and consists of two records housed inside a single card sleeve with two inserts.  There is no sticker on the sleeve because this is a DEMO pressing.  They wouldn’t have bothered stickering a sleeve which wasn’t intended for the public in the first place.  At this time CBS L.P. demos are identified by a large, gold stamp on the rear of the sleeve (normally top left-hand or right-hand corners).  The gold stamp is on the top left-hand corner, on the rear and is visible in the attached image.  Accordingly, this is incredibly rare.  What makes this even rarer is that it has been played ONCE (and there is a fair chance that Sides Three and Four have never been played).  This is my personal copy and I cannot remember where the hell I purchased it?  I cannot imagine you’d find a better standard pressing let alone a DEMO.  There is one light finger-drag on Side Four (this is near the edge of the playing surface, has no depth and is clearly a result of handling to view the condition rather than handling to play) but otherwise I struggle to discern any further hairline scratches under an intense light.  The vinyl is a confident NEAR MINT grading.  Needless to say that having only sustained a single play the labels are as white and immaculate as the day this was pressed.  The sleeve is also graded as being in NEAR MINT condition and the flaws I note are very minor.  The rear of the sleeve is white and I note a little yellowing to the spine which isn’t repeated across the rest of the rear (which is as white and grubby-free as the day it was pressed).  I’d say there is minimal wear to each of the corners (however, they haven’t been knocked) but it should be noted that there has been absolutely no loss of print whatsoever.  The print is vivid and there is no ring-wear and no creasing.  It’s nice to see the two inserts present and correct and aside from a tiny crease in one corner of one of the inserts these also display no damage and have clearly not been handled much.  The inserts are also graded as being in NEAR MINT condition.  A simply stunning example!

Final Remarks

I can’t imagine you’d want to play this!  Incredibly rare as a DEMO copy and it is so hard to find punk lps in this kind of condition.  Please check my other auctions for further collectables and rarities in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.

Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
