Description

The Complete Pacific Jazz and Capitol recordings of the Original Gerry Mulligan Quartet and Tentette with Chet Baker, on Mosaic.  Five LP Set.
There are several different "Mulligan Led" groups included on these five LP's as follows:  A Mulligan trio with Red Mitchell and Chico Hamilton;  A quartet with Mulligan, Chet Baker, Jimmy Rowles and Joe Mondragon;  THE quartet with Mulligan, Baker, Bob Whitlock and Chico Hamilton.  The Tentette, which includes Baker, Pete Candoli John Graas, Bud Shank, and Chico  The quartet with Larry Bunker and Carson Smith; same quartet with Lee Konitz added.
All marvelous stuff.  The original  quartet provided my introduction to modern jazz with interplay and no piano.    The Tentette has such wonderful arrangements by Mulligan, and Konitz adds lots of spice and inventiveness to the proceedings.  What a wonderful period in jazz this was.
