The Country Blues LP V/A+Insert (180gm USA 1959) NM/EX+/M Robert Johnson+

On RBF (Record Book & Film)/Folkways (Cat: RF1) 180gm Vinyl LP released in USA in 1959, and in my personal collection since 2007. The RF (later RBF) series of blues album releases was started in 1959, and I have many of these albums which will be sold in the coming weeks – this LP is the first in the series. I am also currently selling The Jug Bands LP on Folkways (RF6, USA 1963) on ebay.

Artists that feature include: Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, Bukka White, Sleepy John Estes, Lonnie Johnson, Leroy Carr, Memphis Jug Band, Washboard Sam, plus others.

This record has been play-graded & the sound quality is affected by the original recordings made in 1927-31, but most have been cleaned up on this LP, with no jumping or sticking. The record is graded NEAR MINT. The thick card cover has very few minor issues and is graded EXCELLENT PLUS. The insert is MINT. Please see my feedback and finer details below to give you assurance of my descriptions.

This record has been play-graded & the sound quality seems to be affected by the original recordings made in 1927-31, but most have been cleaned up on transference onto this LP, with no jumping or sticking on any track. As the silent period between tracks is free from noise etc, I have taken the view that those tracks which have some background noise have had it transferred from the original master recordings in 1927-1931. The labels are clean and free from stickers or other blemishes – hence the record is graded NEAR MINT.  

The thick card cover has a double open edge – one for the disc, one for the insert. The front & rear surfaces are in great shape, with very few very minor wear marks – I mention them, but they are hardly noticeable & not a major issue. There is one crumple crease at the lower open edge corner (approx. 2cm), and all other corners have very slight dinks. The upper, lower and open edges are all free from marks or wear & are sharp. The spine has some wear, but the print is readable. The cover is graded EXCELLENT PLUS.

The four page insert is MINT – no creasing, writing, or other blemishes.

PACKAGING: This item will be protected inside a strong thick card pro-mailer with a stiffener – see my feedback.  I prepare a record (unless factory sealed) for despatch by re-packaging it in a new polythene-lined inner sleeve, and place it separately from the company cover to avoid splitting the seam. The record could otherwise slip around inside and cut through the edge of the card cover. To add further protection, I place the whole package inside a polythene outer slip case. If you have an alternative request for packaging, please contact me before making payment.
