The Country Team Private Folk Foreign Servicemen Hong Kong 1968 Vinyl LP Signed
Songs on this album: The Hong Kong tours of Foreign Service Officers Nick Platt and Dave Hess overlapped for eight months in 1967-1968. In their spare time, they developed and performed in numerous concerts and TV appearances a unique repertoire of Chinese and American folk songs. Here are the most popular of these, as recorded July 1968 at Crown Records, Hong Kong. Note: The back of the album (on the cover) states that the recording was done by Edgewood Recording Studio. There is no production date on the album or record (it's just noted on the back of the album that this album has the most popular songs as recorded July 1968).

Long Time Man (Alan Lomax found this song at a Texas prison) 6. Ma Che Fu Chih Lien (The Teamster's Love) 7. The River is Wide (An old love song from the British Isles) 8. The Times They Are A'changin (Bob Dylan's modern prophecy in an original Elizabethan musical setting) 9. Cripple Creek (A mountain hoedown. Dave Hess' five string banjo was an entirely new experience for Hong Kong audiences) 10. Chilly Spring Evenings (Dave Hess sings about his wife and daughters) 11. Satisfied Mind (A Nashville product from the forties that sold millions) 12. Country Girl (Nick Platt learned this bitter blues from a Navy oiler on a US aircraft carrier visiting Hong Kong. The haunting accompaniment is picked claw-hammer style on an open D tuning.) 13. Young Girl (This is a female version of "Streets of Laredo") 14. The Eggplant that Ate Chicago (Dave's revenge, with Kazoo obligato) 15. Railroad Blues (an intricate "criss cross" instrumental arrangement for two six-string guitars) 16. The Old Sow (An old family madrigal first heard on Bluebird records in the thirties. This is Platt's revenge, with unidentified obligato)
