Below is my record grading system, all records are from my personal collection:
Mint: For me a record must still be sealed to obtain this rating.
Excellent: Record is opened, but has never been played. Therefore no scuffs, finger prints or anything else is present on the record.
Very Good: Record has been played and may show slight signs of wear, but record plays clean with zero or close to zero surface noise or hiss and pop.
Good: Record may contain visible prints, lines, scuffs, however record plays all the way through without skipping and without surface noise, his and pop that would detract from the enjoyment of listening to the record.
Fair: Definitely has visible wear on record, yet for most fans if the record is at a discount price it’s ok with them. This means most likely his and pop, surface noise may not be avoided.
Poor: Collectors and hardcore fans may still want to own it, yet playing the record will probably result in skipping at one point or another.
