Brand new with special replica of a promotional poster used for the original release. These were issued unsealed. There is very light wear near one corner on the front side of the jacket as shown in the last photo. This is my last copy of this LP for sale.
Limited to 100 copies worldwide on translucent orange vinyl. This is the Special Deluxe Edition by Trashwax.

This is the original version of Songs The Lord Taught Us that The Cramps wanted released. It has been expertly remastered from one of only a handful of test pressing copies known to exist (all the original masters were destroyed in the Universal fire a few years back).
In the late 90's, a version of this was released, taken from a 2nd generation cassette recording and while welcome at the time, this edition is head and shoulders above the 'Alien Records' edition in terms of sound quality, artwork and presentation.

Unleashed upon an unsuspecting world in 1980, The Cramps' Songs The Lord Taught Us is one of only a handful of truly great debut LPs that offers the listener not only the visceral thrill of raw, unbridled rock 'n' roll, but also a gateway to a whole new way of life. This was the entry point for many into the world of The Cramps and, after being exposed to its deranged genius, many were never the same again!
Recorded by Memphis maverick, Alex Chilton at the epicenter of rock 'n' roll, Sam C Phillips' Sun Studios, the album captures the bulk of The Cramps' live set at the time and songs that would go on to become bona fide classics.
However, the mixing of the album would become a point of contention between singer Lux Interior, guitarist Poison Ivy and Chilton, resulting in the LP's release being delayed. During this time, Lux and Ivy's preferred mix, song choice and running order made it onto a small number of test pressings and even US and UK white label pressings of the album, before being withdrawn in favor of Chilton's final choice.
Lux and Ivy's original mix is rawer, with Bryan Gregory's guitar sound in particular lacking the "processed" feel of the final release. Some of the takes used are different too, most noticeably on The Mad Daddy which loses a verse. In addition there are slight changes to the running order. The first song, TV Set, is replaced by Drug Train. Rock On The Moon becomes track 3 on side one and Strychnine moves over to side one.
Overall, the changes almost amount to listening to a new album, which better represents the live sound of the band at the time than the final release.
