Description

Gene Vincent

The Crazy Beat Of Gene Vincent No. 1 E.P.

Capitol Records: EAP-1 20453, 1963.

Plus FREE - A Record Date With Gene Vincent E.P., 1959

This is one of the hardest to find of all Gene Vincent E.P.s. It was the first of a series of three E.P.s to bear this title. Between them they include all twelve tracks from the L.P. of the same name, also released in 1963. The tracks on this E.P. are: Crazy Beat, Important Words, It’s Been Nice and Lonesome Boy.

The example of the record is in very nice condition. It does have a number of marks but these are only superficial and mostly only of the very faint kind that E.P.s always have from being taken in and out of the card sleeve. The record plays very cleanly throughout all four tracks with just a little light crackling to the run-in and run-out grooves. The labels are bright and clean too.

The sleeve is intact. It does have some slight grubbiness here and there, and a little bumping around the edges but nothing too bad at all – it is well over fifty years old now, after all! You should be able to make your own judgement about the condition from the hi-res images above. The sleeve still also has its original record shop price labels. I’ve left those in place all the time I’ve owned the record because I like them - but obviously, if you don’t, you can just peel them off. Interestingly, you can see from these labels that the E.P. did not sell at full price. It was originally thirteen shillings but eventually went into the sale and sold for 6sh/6d. For those not old enough to remember pre-decimal currency that’s exactly half price!

Also included with this sale is a free copy of the 1959 Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps  E.P., A Record Date With Gene Vincent (shown in first image above only). This E.P. is in only fair condition at best and does not have its original sleeve. It is just surplus to my collection, that’s why I decided to include it. It should be regarded as a freebie only – that way you won’t be disappointed. If you don’t have a copy of it, it will at least be a place-holder in your collection until you find a better one.

I’m selling a few other singles from this period at the moment. Please click on See Other Items above, if you would like to see the others that I currently have listed.

UK Postage and packing:  £2.50

International postage and packing:  Postage charges to international destinations are given below.

All postage prices quoted (UK and international) are maximum charges.  If postage and packing costs less than these estimates, I will refund the difference after posting (subject to the difference being £1.00 or more. Unless otherwise indicated, the postage prices I give in the listing are for a tracked and signed-for service, as required by eBay. If however, winning buyers would prefer cheaper options, I am always happy to help with that if I can. Please contact me for a quote.

I hope this description has given you enough to go on but should you require any further information, or more images, please do e-mail.  Please also look carefully at the hi-res photos – they are part of the description.  Thanks for your interest in this auction and good luck if you decide to bid.

Please note:  I will not respond to requests to close the auction early regardless of the value of the offer made.  Ending early is contrary to both the principle and spirit of an auction. It is also unfair to other eBayers who may be watching the auction intending to bid at a later time.
