Description
The Crystals – Twist Uptown (Philles Records) PHLP-4000, Promo pressing/white label, cover minor fading on back, little amount of edge wear VG+, vinyl w/ a few light scuffs and scratches, overall solid sheen, strong VG/VG+
We are offering in this first series of auctions records of two genres: Cheesecake and Rhythm & Blues. The first, cheesecake, is subdivided into albums with erotic and exotic covers – Exotica, a style that flourished largely in the 50s, and singers whimsically portrayed – Femme Fatale or Vocalist Vixens, a style that remained for decades. The second genre is R&B, which can be subdivided regionally, Northern vs. Southern, or even more locally, MoTown, Philadelphia, Atlanta, etc. At this time we will keep it inclusive to just R&B. Each month or so we will be offering albums of different genres as well as ones we have done previously. We have 100s and often 1000s within each genre. Four images will be usually provided for each album including labels, which will reveal song lists and indicate in many instances the edition of the album (original, second, etc.). The grading of each album follows Goldmine for the most part and is included below. Please understand, the grading is based on visual assessment unless stated otherwise.
It is our purpose to satisfy our clientele. We value your interests and wish you to continue to purchase more items from us on eBay. Records are evaluated under a bright, direct light, including sunlight when possible. They may be play graded when necessary. Sealed records were obtained that way and never rewrapped by us. Unless boots, we try to authenticate all items as factory issues and purposely have them in clean condition for your listening experience. We strive to note defects in the description, especially with regard to the vinyl. The front and back photographs of the cover and labels will help you assess their condition as well. If you have any questions please contact us through Ebay's messaging system. We will return payment upon the safe (undamaged) return delivery of the item we had sent.
SS : brand new, sealed
NM/M-: near mint, or mint minus is for all intents and purposes an unplayed condition; cover looks as close to perfect with at the most very minor signs of wear and or age.
EX or VG+: few minor scuffs which are only slightly visible, usually seen under a bright light . Cover also has only slight wear, and is still in nice collectible condition.
Strong VG: vinyl still has a great luster, record shows minor wear, surface scuffs, which may be more than a few but NO scratches. Flaws will usually be noticeable to the naked eye. Overall, no significant sound distraction. The cover will overall be clean, but may have small writing such as owner’s name on front or back but not distracting from the artwork, which should look clean with slightly more aging. On older (‘50s and ‘60s) albums, the back of the cover may be more faded and give away the age of the cover, especially when flat white paper had been used, which may lightly yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage. There may be a drill hole or cut out, also minor edge wear.
VG: overall general wear with some loss of sheen due to multiple scuffs and scratches all being light. There can be noise during quiet passages. Cover may have drill hole and/or tears, usually with heavy ring wear. Edge wear can be considerable with possibly a partial split seam.
VG-: on the border of heavy wear on both record and cover, but no skips or serious defects. Cover will often have major ring wear. Seams often split to their full length. May have multiple taped seams. May still be used for framing.
G+: Heavy wear but still playable. Sheen is nonexistent, but no deep scratches resulting in skipping or stoppage of play. Cover with significant writing, water damage, tears and/or split seams. Only the rarest of lps will be offered in this condition and none with both vinyl and cover in this state (ex. cover may be VG+ while vinyl is G+).
The Guarantee does not apply to VG- or G+ condition records.
