Description
Bossa Nova USA is a Jazz album by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. It was released on the Columbia Records label in 1963. The album was recorded and released at the height of the “Bossa Nova craze” in North America. It was designed to be effective on the pop charts. It was meant to be “impressionistic” of “the cool wave from Brazil”. The album sits in stark contrast to Brubeck’s other time themed albums, in that each track is typified simply by a samba-based rhythm. In advance of the album, the title track was released as a single and was met with moderate success, peaking at # 69 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart. The album fared better than its single, landing at #14 on the Top Albums chart. Really enjoyable, breezy listen on 2-Eye first press stereo from ‘63 here.
