Description

Offered here is a vintage sealed stereo copy of The Doors’ landmark self-titled debut album, issued by Elektra as EKS-74007.
Originally released in 1967, this is one of the defining albums of the psychedelic-rock era, featuring “Break On Through,” “Light My Fire,” “The Crystal Ship,” “Back Door Man,” and “The End.”
Domestic returns accepted w/in 30 days -- buy with confidence!!!
WHY THIS SEALED COPY IS ESPECIALLY INTERESTING
Several visible characteristics make this a compelling vintage copy and leave open the possibility that the record inside could be an original 1967 stereo pressing:
• The front does not display the Gold Record Award emblem seen on some other versions • Original Elektra stereo catalog number EKS-74007 • No barcode • Tight, naturally aged vintage shrink • Two round breather holes visible near the record ring • Vintage Variety Records labels attached to the outside of the shrink • No budget-series sticker, saw cut, promotional hole, or other visible cutout marking
These details are consistent with an early vintage package. A 1967 gold-label pressing inside remains possible, and nothing visible on the exterior conclusively rules that out.
However, the same EKS-74007 cover artwork was also used with some later Elektra pressings. Because the album remains sealed, the record label, pressing plant, matrix numbers, and inner sleeve cannot be viewed. Those hidden details are what would be needed to confirm a specific pressing year.
The record is therefore being offered as a vintage sealed EKS-74007 with the possibility of an original pressing inside, not as a guaranteed 1967 first pressing.  It is priced accordingly.
VINTAGE RETAIL LABELS
Two vintage labels remain attached to the outside of the shrink:
• White Variety Records store label • Yellow code and price tag reading “278 $5.98”
The meaning of “278” is unknown. The $5.98 price may reflect later retail handling or repricing, but a sticker applied to the outside of the shrink does not establish when the enclosed record was manufactured. An older sealed copy could have been priced or repriced at a later date.
Both labels have been left completely untouched as part of the album’s vintage retail history.
CONDITION
The cover retains strong color and displays very well. It is conservatively graded VG+.
The principal condition detail is a small lower-right corner ding with slight whitening and a tiny localized opening in the shrink. There is also a very small nick, approximately 1 mm, in the rear shrink. Light natural age and handling marks may be visible under strong angled lighting.
The remaining shrink stays tight and securely sealed. The photographs and included video clearly show the front, back, corners, edges, breather holes, retail labels, shrink, and noted imperfections.
The record and inner sleeve remain sealed and are presumed Mint, but they have not been separately inspected or graded.
VIDEO AND ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS
Please watch the included video for a moving-light examination of the cover, shrink, sealed edges, breather holes, retailer labels, and noted corner.
Additional detailed photographs are gladly available upon request. Please message me before purchasing if you would like a closer view of any particular corner, edge, label, breather hole, or shrink detail.
PACKING AND SHIPPING
The album will remain sealed and will be placed inside a protective outer sleeve and a hard plastic top-loader. It will be carefully packed in a proper LP mailer with tracking and insurance to the purchase price.  The corners will be protected.
Whether preserved as an unopened vintage collectible or purchased for the possibility of an early pressing inside, this is an attractive and increasingly difficult sealed example of one of rock music’s essential debut albums.
