Description
Whoa! Easy, Jim! I’m offering up my lone vinyl copy of Gloria, the (in)famous Doors cover recording of the Van Morrison mid-60s garage rock classic. This theater rehearsal performance from July 1969 became a juicy Doors deep cut when released as part of the posthumous live album Alive, She Cried. It drew lots of attention not just for its unusually slick production quality (hello, 1983 overdubs!), but also for its naughty and suggestive lyrical improvisation by Jim Morrison, which prompted a censored “clean” version to be featured whimsically on the flipside of this 12-inch single, and labeled as such to keep radio DJs out of hot water. This vinyl collector piece is a pristine copy (EAOR 4942) and plays flawlessly (Near Mint is conservative), with super-wide, super-clean grooves for your turntable’s pleasure. The shell is generic plain white and window-holed, as issued, presenting cleanly, save for some old price sticker glue on the back and a corner bend, lower left. I’m letting this puppy go after all these years, before the wrong youngster discovers it and becomes irreversibly corrupted.
