Description
The Doors L.A. Woman in its original 1971 Elektra pressing, presented in the unmistakable die-cut window cover with the rounded corners and deep maroon field that defined this release. The yellow inner card showing the crucifixion image through the front window is the detail collectors look for, and it is fully present here. This is the album as it was meant to be experienced, with the tactile design choices that made L.A. Woman one of the most distinctive packages Elektra ever issued. Clean original copies of this configuration, with the inner card intact and properly seated, are getting harder to come by.
L.A. Woman is the final studio album recorded by The Doors with Jim Morrison, released in April 1971, with Morrison on vocals, Robbie Krieger on guitar, Ray Manzarek on piano and organ, and John Densmore on drums, joined by Jerry Scheff on bass and Marc Benno on rhythm guitar courtesy of A&M Records. Produced by Bruce Botnick and The Doors, recorded at The Doors Workshop in Los Angeles. The record carries The Changeling, Love Her Madly, Been Down So Long, Cars Hiss By My Window, the title track L.A. Woman, L'America, Hyacinth House, Crawling King Snake, The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat), and Riders On The Storm. A bluesier, looser, more grounded record than what came before, and the closing chapter of the original lineup.

No barcode, as correct for the era. Not a gatefold.

Condition:
Record: Vinyl shows light surface marks consistent with age and use. Labels are clean with no writing, no stickers, no spindle damage of note. Plays through with the warmth and presence expected of an early Elektra Doors pressing. Graded visually in the Very Good range.
Cover: Outer die-cut sleeve shows honest wear consistent with a 1971 album that has lived a real life. Edge wear and small losses to the laminate along the top edge and bottom edge, light corner wear, surface scuffing on the maroon field, and a faint ring impression visible on the back. The die-cut window is intact and the inner yellow card with the crucifixion image is present and seated properly. Front and back text and graphics fully legible. Graded in the Good Plus range overall, presenting honestly for its age.
