Incredibly rare copy of the German EP pressed by Hit-ton Schallplatten. Very rare picture sleeve with the exclusive design by Gisela Beyer which, besides the photo of the band, includes “The Doors” banner and the titles of two tracks “Light My Fire / The Crystal Ship” present on EP. In the upper-right side, the pink background of the cover contains the yellow / black logo of Hit-ton Schallplatten, the company which existed for only 3 years during the period from 1966 to 1969. The copies of “The Doors” EPs pressed on this label during this period in Germany are extremely rare. This copy comes with a picture sleeve containing the “7.67” date code located vertically. This is the 1st version of this picture sleeve as the second version contains the “8.67” date code. The top left and right corners of the picture sleeve’s back side contains the “HT 300 112” catalog number. The 1st print “Printed in Germany by Johannes Alt, Frankfurt” picture sleeve also contains the titles of other releases issued by Hit-ton Schallplatten during this period. Original 1st print “GEMA 45” yellow / black labels with the HT 300112 catalog number, a large boxed “Hit-ton Schallplatten” logo and the “1967” date. The copies of these EPs are considered to be extrememly rare even in Germany, especially if it’s the very early 1st pressing with the A-1 / B-1 matrix numbers, which are located on this copy. The full machine stamped matrix numbers are as follows: SIDE 1 - 300 112 A-1 / SIDE 2 - 300 112 B-1.

I grade the original picture sleeve as Excellent. It’s in beautiful vintage condition with the vivid colors and is very clean. Except for some light overall age shelf wear and scuffing the sleeve doesn’t have any splits, missing pieces or tears, which are commonly found on this issue. The top right corner of the sleeve’s front has a barely noticeable discoloration from a small sticker, but no sticky residue is present. The vinyl is graded as somewhere between Strong Very Good and Very Good Plus visually, but plays as Near Mint Minus, having some light non-feelable surface marks as well as some scuffs from the paper sleeve. The labels are super clean and in Excellent condition with the “Light My Fire” side only having a light staining from a small sticker, but just like in the case with the clean cover, contains no sticky residue. The vinyl sounds fantastic having a crystal clear sound.
