Original promotional Elektra Records pre-release issue of The Doors’ fourth studio album released in July 18, 1969. This promotional DJ pre-release copy was shipped to radio stations several months before the official release of the album. This issue contains the black and white Elektra Records promo labels with a large “E”, the “Radio Station Copy” banner and the “EKS-75005” catalog number. Original 1st print “Printed in U.S.A. glossy gatefold cover contains two original stickers on the front, the clear “Includes Their Hits TOUCH ME, TELL ALL THE PEOPLE, WISHFUL SINFUL Complete Lyrics Enclosed” hype sticker with the “EKS 75005” catalog number in the upper right-hand corner, and the red / pink Elektra “Promotional Copy Not For Sale” sticker in the upper left-hand corner below the “EKS-75005 Stereo” banner. The bottom of the back cover contains the Elektra Records’ “1855, Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10023” address. The album comes with an original custom “The Soft Parade” inner sleeve with a collage of the band on the front and the complete lyrics on the back as indicated on the hype sticker. 1st Columbia Records Pitman, NJ pressing with the machine stamped “P” and Customatrix’s “o” symbol in the runout groove on both sides. Very early 1st -A / -B matrix numbers in addition to the 1st -A3 / -B3 mother stampers. The full matrix numbers of this promotional white label copy are as follows: Side 1 - P o EKS-75005-A CP C A3; Side 2 - P o EKS-75005-B CP I B3.

The cover is in outstanding Near Mint Minus condition. It doesn't have any scuffing, wear or ring wear on the front and back. It's practically impossible to find a cover of this issue that wouldn't have these to one degree or another. There is only some very light bumping to the corners but it is barely noticeable. The interior gatefold cover is also in Near Mint Minus condition. The original "The Soft Parade" inner sleeve is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces. I grade the glossy beautiful vinyl as Excellent as it appears to have been played only several times and has the beautiful snow white scuff-free Near Mint Minus labels. It has only several light non-feelable surface hairlines and scuffs from the inner sleeve. The vinyl sounds fantastic with a punch and dynamic Stereo sound.
