Description
Prestige International Documentary Series 25008, "The Eastern Shores" from 1961. This is the original maroon-label DG pressing. Vinyl plays at NM with virtually no background sound. Jacket has bits of seamwear but nothing significant, though there is a corner bump and heavier wear for 2" (3 cm) at lower right that . There is light ringwear at top (see scan); there is a small piece of tape at upper right corner; jacket back is basically clean with no writing or stamps. The enclosed lyrics and documentary booklet is in excellent shape. The artists perform mostly folk and gospel and include Bessie Jones with Hobart Smith, the Belleville A Capella Choir, the Silver Leaf Quartet, the Bright Light Quartet, and the Peerless Four. Many of these artists are obscure, but these are field recordings from Alan Lomax and Shirley Collins' well-known tour of the South in 1959-60. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $10.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $16.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional single LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $3.00 overseas. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $14.50 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
