Description

'The First Monument' UK 1st Press 1971 -1/-1 Vinyl LP In Shrink Excellent Copy EX/VG+
This is a superb opportunity and one for the collector. A seldom seen UK 1st pressing on Beacon Records of this supernatural classic vinyl LP. This copy is in unusually good order. The vinyl is gleaming with just a couple of very faint wispy hairlines to be seen in strong light and that is all, this is clearly a very lightly played and handled copy. The sound is clear and dynamic with any noise being of little more than static level. The sleeve is excellent with the shrink still attached largely intact with one small abrasion on the front which has left a light mark on the sleeve and also the shrink is tightening with age which is causing some unevenness to the sleeve. There is a bit of surface rubbing to the bottom edge and just a small piece of yellow tape applied to the sleeve as a form of indexing to detract, I have not attempted to remove this. Overall this is a very nice copy - one of the best out there! Definitely one for the collector EX/VG+

Please see the following grading guidelines which I use to grade all media:  Items will be described in the following order: Media/Cover (i.e. VG/G+)

MINT:  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

CD's are similarly graded though the Jewel case is disregarded in grading. The grading applies to the media and the insert. Cassettes will simply be described in their playing condition and are all tested.
