Description
For sale is The Four Tops Greatest Hits, originally released in 1967 by Motown Records with a blue label that has a map that stretches from mid-Indiana to mid-Pennsylvania with "Motown" at the top, with letters that fade from red to yellow to blue. This record was later reissued by Motown Records, identified by more yellow in the word "Motown" and never having the same rich blue as earlier versions. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1-D/1-D, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this reissue, a hallmark of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as Excellent because of some small stress cracks along the spine and minor corner blunts. The spine has color loss at each corner and a few small spots in the middle from the stress cracks. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint. This the best copy of this album that I have ever seen and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition, being that it has become so scarce.
