For sale is a very good listeners copy of the classic folk masterpiece, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan by Bob Dylan. His second studio record released in May 1963 was his breakthrough as a songwriter and was the start of him being as a voice of a generation. On his self titled debut he only composed two songs while here he wrote eleven of thirteen. The album starts with, “Blowin’ In The Wind” which not only has become one of Dylan’s signature songs, it was an anthem of the 60s. Also included are the now classics, “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall”, “Girl From the North Country” and “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. It only peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 in the US but hit the top of the chart in the UK. The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan was chosen by the Library of Congress as one of 50 recordings to be added to the National Recording Registry in 2002 for it’s important historical significance. In 2020, it was ranked #255 on Rolling Stone’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. This copy is a 1st mono Pitman Press with red Columbia 2-eye labels with “Guaranteed High Fidelity” in black along the bottom.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Some visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Cover is also in VG condition. Shelf wear on corners and seams but no splits. Title is fully legible. Lower right corner is dented and has a scuff mark as does the top right. Ring wear and stains on both sides. A great looking copy of one of the most classic record covers of all time!! Please see pics.
